The Olive Oil

Our premium olive oil is made in the olive grove of the Kontogiannis family at the foot of Ancient Corinth on the Peloponnese, starting with the 2026/27 harvest. The family has farmed biodynamically since 2006 – with respect for the soil, the plants and the cycle of the whole farm.

The olives are hand-picked and processed immediately at a local mill. Every bottling contains the harvest of one single grove [single estate].

How it began

The Idea

In early 2012, Urte and Ralf Randel founded the Greek-German community project “Platanenblatt”. Their first partner farmer was Prokopis Bantzis.

To revive the community-building and social dimension of olive oil making, direct donations from every sale flow into the non-profit association Platanenblatt e.V. With the 2026/27 harvest, a new chapter begins.

We have a goal

The Mission

Starting with the 2013/14 harvest, the project evolved into an initiative of extended community-supported agriculture. A group of people guarantees to buy a farmer’s produce and pre-finances the harvest – everyone shares the responsibility and the harvest.

Members receive fresh organic olive oil and a personal relationship with their farmer. The farmer gains a supportive community and a secure income.

A new chapter

The Kontogiannis Family

With the 2026/27 harvest, a new chapter begins for Platanenblatt – and a new partner joins us, whom we would like to introduce to you step by step: the Kontogiannis family, who have farmed at the foot of Ancient Corinth for generations. Since 2006 the family has worked strictly biodynamically, in the spirit of the farm as a self-contained organism. The farm is also part of the Slow Food Farms Network and follows the agroecological principles of Slow Food.

Besides olive oil, the farm also produces wine, raisins, herbs and more – always with the same principle: as little intervention as possible, as much care as needed. We have known Theo Kontogiannis and his family for around ten years, and we are now looking forward to working together.

How much is enough?

Harvest Shares

We would love for you to cover your annual olive oil needs with your share of our harvest. Everyone’s needs are different, so we have defined a harvest share as 6 litres – two 3-litre tins. Of course you can also order single tins or several shares.

See you there

Collection Days

The nicest way to receive your harvest share is to pick it up in person at one of our collection days. We taste the fresh olive oil together, share news from the project, and you can ask anything about olive oil, the farm and the olive grove.

A free place of learning

The School Project

We enable pupils to use the olive grove as a free, inclusive place of learning.

A new environment can shape personal development. Leaving one’s familiar world interrupts everyday routines – making reorientation necessary and new development possible.
